LYNDA HYDAMAKA, RMT
Lynda graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver B.C. (2500 hour program) in 1988. Over the past 29 years + she has taken numerous post graduate courses and along with her family practice has expanded her knowledge of the human body.
Among these are: neuromuscular therapy (St. John Method), muscle balance and function, thermo therapy (hot/cold stone therapy), sports massage, muscle energy, craniosacral therapy, osteopathic technique, fascia release, dermoneuro modulation, and visceral manipulation.
Lynda is committed to ongoing learning and educating others. She often refers to herself as an eternal student. She taught, nationally and internationally, for the St. John Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy for 10 years.
Lynda’s approach to therapy focuses on both structure and function. You can expect your alignment to be assessed and corrected and manual massage Therapy techniques used that are appropriate for your presenting symptoms. Homecare will also be a part of your treatment plan.
Prior to Massage Therapy, Lynda obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and her Master’s Degree in Lifestyle Management, from the University of British Columbia. She was a Lifestyle Coach and private trainer, as well as an athletic trainer for Varsity and National team athletes, before continuing on to study Massage Therapy.
Lynda also has a private counselling practice. She graduated from the B.C. Institute of Focusing in 2004 and is registered with the Focusing Institute in New York as well as with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists in British Columbia. She is a certified Focusing-Oriented Therapist & Complex Trauma Counsellor and Trainer, as well as a Certifying Coordinator for the New York Institute of Focusing. She graduated from the Justice Institute of British Columbia in 2014 with a certificate in Aboriginal Focusing Oriented Therapy & Complex Trauma. Her gentle, implicit approach to counselling is client centered, and body centered. Her practice includes childhood and adult trauma, dreams, relationship issues, burn out, grief/loss, life transitions, separation and family court support.
When not in the office, Lynda will be planning and leading adventure travel trips, skiing, hiking, golfing, running, cycling and just being in the outdoors.
