Kerrisdale is in the south western section of Vancouver and slopes down to the Fraser River. It is mainly a residential area with streets lined with large old trees and some of Vancouver's best shops are in this community. Kerrisdale stretches from Blenheim to Granville Street/Angus Drive, and from 41st Avenue to Southwest Marine Drive. The standard direct route from the airport towards downtown is Granville Street, which defines the east side of Kerrisdale.

In 1905 when the BC Electric Railway acquired the line from the CPR a Mrs. MacKinnon, one of the area’s first inhabitants was asked to name the railway stop at 41st Ave and she chose Kerry’s Dale reminding her of her family home in Kerrydale, Scotland which soon became Kerrisdale.

Kerrisdale joined the new municipality of Point Grey in 1908 which soon became the political centre. Kerrisdale in the early days had a general store, hardware store, post office and a real estate office. Kerrisdale merged with the City of Vancouver in 1912 when it combined with Point Grey.
